Vertical Bore Loops

Vertical bore loops consist of HDPE pipe that runs in holes drilled vertically into the earth. Installing these loops usually requires a well drilling machine, and is thus not a Do-It-Yourself job. The drilling contractor will install the pipe in the bore holes and use thermally-conductive grout to seal off the aquifers, and maintain good thermal conductivity in the loop. Short sections of horizontal trench are dug to connect the borehole loops to each other, and to bring the loop into the house.

Vertical bores are the most expensive type of loop to install, but require the least amount of land, and cause the least yard damage, during installation.
